Emory Andrew Tate III is a British-American social media influencer; former professional kickboxer; and accused human trafficker who was indicted by Romanian prosecutors in June 2024 on charges of human trafficking; rape; and forming an organized criminal group. Born in Washington D.C. and raised partly in England; Tate became a four-time ISKA world kickboxing champion before transitioning to social media; where he built a massive following promoting an aggressively misogynistic worldview; flaunting extreme wealth; and operating "Hustler's University" (later "The Real World"); an online subscription program that charged members $50/month for financial advice while incentivizing them to spread Tate's content virally. His social media reach was enormous; with his clips viewed billions of times; making him particularly influential among young men and teenage boys. Tate was banned from major social platforms in August 2022 for violating hate speech policies; though Elon Musk reinstated him on X (Twitter) in November 2022. On December 29; 2022; Romanian police raided Tate's compound near Bucharest and arrested him and his brother Tristan Tate along with two Romanian women on charges of human trafficking; rape; and forming an organized criminal group. Prosecutors allege the Tates lured women to Romania using false promises of romantic relationships; then sexually exploited them and forced them to produce pornographic content for profit through a "loverboy" method of psychological manipulation. The brothers were held in custody and then under house arrest for months before being released on bail. In June 2024; Romanian prosecutors formally indicted the Tates; sending the case to trial. Separately; UK authorities charged Andrew Tate with sexual aggression against a British woman in March 2025.
