Captain Bhavye Suneja was the 31-year-old Indian pilot of Lion Air Flight 610, which crashed into the Java Sea on October 29, 2018, killing all 189 people aboard. He and First Officer Harvino fought the malfunctioning MCAS system for about 11 minutes before losing control. Boeing had not adequately informed pilots about MCAS or how to disable it. Suneja was not told that the same aircraft had experienced MCAS problems on its previous flight, a different crew had managed to recover. Like the Ethiopian pilots, Suneja was a victim of Boeing's design and disclosure failures.
