InfoWars is an American far-right conspiracy theory and fake news media platform founded by Alex Jones in 1999. Operating through websites; podcasts; and a daily web show; InfoWars became one of the most influential disinformation outlets in the United States; promoting conspiracy theories including 9/11 trutherism; Sandy Hook massacre denial; Pizzagate; QAnon; COVID-19 misinformation; and 2020 election fraud claims. The platform generates substantial revenue through sales of dietary supplements; survival gear; and other products marketed to its audience through the InfoWars Store. In 2022; Jones was found liable in defamation lawsuits brought by Sandy Hook victims' families for falsely claiming the massacre was staged; resulting in nearly $1.5 billion in damages. Free Speech Systems LLC; the parent company of InfoWars; filed for bankruptcy in 2022. A federal bankruptcy court ordered the liquidation of Jones' assets in 2024 to pay Sandy Hook families.
