Virtuoso Violinist; Named in Jeffrey Epstein's Black Book
Classical Musician; Cultural Figure
Itzhak Perlman is an Israeli-American violinist; conductor; and music pedagogue widely considered one of the greatest violinists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Born in Tel Aviv; he contracted polio at age four; which left him walking with crutches and leg braces for the rest of his life. He gained fame after appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show at age 13 and went on to study at Juilliard under Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay. Perlman has performed with every major orchestra in the world; won 16 Grammy Awards; received the Presidential Medal of Freedom (2015); and was awarded the Genesis Prize (2017). His name appears in Jeffrey Epstein's black book of contacts; which contained the names of hundreds of prominent individuals across entertainment; politics; science; and business. There is no evidence Perlman was involved in or aware of any criminal activity; contact books of this nature reflect Epstein's strategy of cultivating social connections with high-profile figures to build legitimacy and access.
