Former Insys Therapeutics Founder
Insys Founder, Opioid Kickback Scheme Conviction
John Kapoor founded Insys Therapeutics, which made the fentanyl spray Subsys. He was convicted in 2019 of running a nationwide bribery scheme to get doctors to prescribe the dangerous opioid, including to patients who didn't need it. Insys paid doctors through fake "speaker programs "and bribed them directly. He was sentenced to 5.5 years, one of the only pharma executives jailed for the opioid crisis.
