Overview
Josef Mengele was a Nazi SS physician and war criminal known as the"Angel of Death"who performed horrific pseudo-scientific experiments on prisoners at the Auschwitz concentration camp, including experiments on twins, forced hypothermia, and other tortures. After the war, he fled to South America where he was given sanctuary in Paraguay and later lived in Brazil. Despite international manhunts, he was never brought to justice and died in 1979.
