Kari Ann Lake is a former Phoenix television news anchor who ran for Governor of Arizona in 2022 on a platform centered on denying the results of the 2020 presidential election. After losing to Democrat Katie Hobbs by approximately 17,000 votes; Lake refused to concede and filed multiple lawsuits alleging election fraud; all of which were rejected by the courts. Arizona courts found no evidence of the widespread fraud Lake alleged. Her legal challenges reached the Arizona Supreme Court; which unanimously rejected her claims. Lake continued to claim the election was "stolen" despite losing every legal challenge. In 2024; she ran for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Kyrsten Sinema and lost to Democrat Ruben Gallego. Lake has been a prominent figure in the "Stop the Steal" movement; appearing regularly with Donald Trump and echoing his claims about election fraud.
