Omarosa Manigault Newman is a former reality television personality and political aide who served as Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison from January 2017 until her firing in December 2017. She first gained fame as a contestant on Donald Trump's "The Apprentice;" appearing on multiple seasons. After being fired from the White House by Chief of Staff John Kelly (she secretly recorded the firing conversation in the White House Situation Room; a major security breach); she turned against Trump and wrote the tell-all book "Unhinged" (2018). Omarosa claimed she had heard a recording of Trump using racial slurs (the N-word) on the set of The Apprentice; though the tape has never been publicly released. She released numerous secret recordings from inside the White House; including conversations with Trump himself; raising serious questions about security protocols. The Trump campaign sued her for $1.5 million for violating a non-disclosure agreement; but a court-appointed arbitrator ruled in her favor. Her trajectory from Trump ally to critic illustrated the pattern of insiders who leave the administration and reveal damaging information; while critics questioned her credibility given her own history of controversy and self-promotion.
