Overview
Slobodan Milosevic orchestrated a series of wars across the former Yugoslavia throughout the 1990s, fueling ethnic nationalism that resulted in the deaths of over 140,000 people, the displacement of millions, and the worst atrocities in Europe since World War II. He was the first sitting head of state to be indicted for war crimes. He died during his trial at The Hague in 2006.
