Attorney; 2020 Election Conspiracy Promoter
Attorney who promoted extreme election conspiracy theories; urged Republicans not to vote in Georgia runoffs; faced disciplinary proceedings in multiple states
Lucian Lincoln "Lin" Wood Jr. is an attorney who gained notoriety after the 2020 presidential election for promoting extreme conspiracy theories about election fraud. A formerly well-known defamation attorney who had represented Richard Jewell and the family of JonBenet Ramsey; Wood pivoted to election denial and pro-Trump activism. After the 2020 election; Wood filed multiple lawsuits challenging the results; all of which were dismissed. He promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory; claimed Chief Justice John Roberts was compromised; alleged without evidence that Vice President Mike Pence should be executed for treason; and urged Republican voters to boycott the January 2021 Georgia Senate runoff elections unless the state overturned its presidential results. The boycott call was widely blamed for contributing to the unexpected losses of Republican Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler; handing Democrats control of the Senate. Wood faced bar disciplinary proceedings in multiple states; the Delaware Supreme Court referred him for mental health evaluation. He was sued by former associates alleging fraud; and his relationship with former allies including Sidney Powell and Michael Flynn deteriorated publicly. Wood's law license was suspended in South Carolina in 2023.
